Hello, I'm new to the group and this is my first forum question.
I just purchased my first gas pump and wondered what is a good restoration source
regarding the mechanicals. I saw a YouTube video where the pump ran, dials move, bell rings, spinner rotates. Just like it would have back in the day. I have left all the internal parts intact. Just wire brushed some rust and loose paint off. I removed the doors, top and sides to prepare for painting. Thanks for the input.

I am also in Michigan. My advise to you (since this is your first pump) is take 100's of pictures to help. Take video too explaining what you did. Pictures don't cost anything and will help you tremendously when putting it back together.

And.... bag all your bolts and parts and label them as you disassemble the pump. That way you will know what bolts (length and threads), and springs, and washers, and grommets and shafts and bushings and brackets and gears and wires (you get the idea) go where. There are more parts than you would think. Have fun.

Thank you for the advice everyone! I will look into what everyone had to say. I did see an interesting video where an electric drill was used with a speed control. The drill was mounted inside and a shaft installed that ran the computer. A push button control installed on the pump handle. Wire ran from there, through the hose and into the pump. It also showed a sump pump and bucket inside that sent fluid thru the spinner and back to the bucket. Very cool and very helpful. Thanks everyone !

I sell a kit that has everything you need to motorize the computer. No building brackets, no mounting drills or any of that stuff. Its complete and bolts to the bottom of your veeder root computer. I don't include any wiring because there are so many different ways to activate the motor, that I leave that up to the personal preference of the pump owner.
If you send me a PM with your email address, I will send you some pictures and installation instructions that detail the installation of the kit and you will be able to see how easy it is. It takes about 15 minutes to install the kit.
