Do the hinge brackets on a Wayne 70 have the tab piece down on both left and right doors (as shown in pic) or down on one door and up on the other? Are the hole locations on the door's edge symmetrical between left and right doors if they were standing side-by-side? Relying on the door holes from this project pump, something is not aligning up right. The previous owner may have drilled holes that I can't trust as right. Could someone provide the hole location (dimensions) as measured from the bottom edge for both left and right doors?

The hinge brackets on one door are right side up. The other is upside down as your picture shows. I always have to play with the hinges to get these to work properly. I usually wind up adjusting the hinge on the frame to make the door hand correctly. Never measured the holes....just worked with the doors? If the previous guy drilled new holes, you should be able to see where the old holes were welded/filled on the back of the door? Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Perhaps an question on orientation is in order here? According to Gas Pump Heaven (GPH), if you stand with the side with the nozzle facing you, left door is left and the right door is right. I ordered hinge brackets as such, I had one right bracket; ordered two more rights and three lefts. Using GPH orientation, the left door mounts fine using right side hinges and existing holes in the door. If I try to use left side hinges like the one I'm holding, then the door is offset by the bracket height. Do I even have a Wayne 70? I have no Ad Glass in the side panel and the fuel delivery bulb is on top of the door.

Yes that is a Wayne 70. When ever I order replacement Wayne 70 door attachments, if one is needed, like you, I always order two rights and two lefts. Reason being exactly the situation you are currently in. With extras, the issue is simply finding the best fit. Looks like the bracket you are holding should work but not being there limits my opinion to just that? Paul www.severngaspumps.com

On an original condition pump, if you stand the 2 doors together you will see that the hinge mounting holes are at a different height in each door. This makes it necessary to turn the bracket upside down. If you have 2 doors with the holes at the same height then you would need a left and right door hinge bracket.

Tom Buckles response seems spot on correct. The holes in my doors are at different heights. Hopefully the next Wayne 70 guy will read this and be better advised.

I agree with Tom, never had a problem with mine. This reminds me of Dick Bennett always telling us to take lots of photos.

Just a quick reminder. Never think that the hinges are bent. Put it all back together before any adjustment. I can tell you from experience that the hinges are bent a certain way for a reason. Did a Wayne 71 and straightened all the hinges, I think about 12 and then spent about a month trying to rebend and get them bent right again.

Has anyone tried bending the wayne 70 hinges? The pump took a good hit on one corner and two of the hinges are bent ( hitting the frame) . I have one broken hinge I might practice on to see if it will bend with a little heat. I think I might end up with a two piece hinge. They are bent about 1/8" comparing them to the hinges on the other side.

I have bent quite a few hinges over the years. I have never used heat. Just slow pressure. I have broke a few but most of the time they will bend. Richard

Same here! I have straightened a lot of Wayne 70 hinges and I generally leave it mounted on the pump and use an adjustable wrench to bend it. Haven't ever broken one yet!

I certainly have broken reproduction hinges but have had good luck with slowly bending original hinges.

I just purchased a Wayne 70 and 4 of the cast arms were bent. I was able to cold bend them back to straight without breaking them. My better question is who is the source for the fiberglass replacement door? I found another Model 70 for sale with an absolutely trashed door and no luck finding a suitable steel replacement. The pump I own the doors are fine but I passed on one not being able to locate a suitable replacement door. I am a newcomer to this forum so I am looking forward to the resources available for pump restoration. Thanks , Mike
