There is no way for the auction house to prevent this from happening. They take bids from LiveAuctioneers, Proxibid, Ebay, Auctionzip, their own platform, and then live day of the auction bidders. Those pre-bidding systems don't communicate with each other. So if the auctioneer is working two floor bidders he is going to see hands in the room go up before he is going to get a notification from a computer clerk running a system. You can't take it personally. If you don't want to miss out then you need to bid live. There is no way around it.
