Hello everyone. Here is our latest offering - the 15.0" Starlite Gasoline lens. These are from the Miller Oil Company out of Canada. There is only one original lens know to exist at this time. We were fortunate enough to be allowed to reproduce these by the Copyright holder. The colors are Cobalt Blue and Gold. This is a stunning color combination. Check out the web site for pricing and matching decals. Later . . . Jim

The story of the original globe and the company behind the brand can be found here: http://www.oldgas.com/shoptalk/ubb/Forum4/HTML/001471.html And I'm extremely pleased that this globe is now available to collectors. Thanks Jim!
Always looking for Texaco Canada, Supertest, White Rose, McColl Frontenac, and Miller Oil Co. info.

KZ1000, I am not a fan of repro stuff myself but i understand the need for it as pump guys purchase these to restore pumps. Jim did the RIGHT THING by asking to use the image and not just lifting it from oldgas and making it. For that i give Jim my respect, asking to use images goes a long way in my book.
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Several messages have been deleted from this topic.
It is unacceptable in the For Sale forum to post critical comments about items offered for sale by a member. It is also unacceptable to post your own items for sale in another member's For Sale topic.
This is the same kind of situation as if you went into a vendor's space at a swap meet and started a loud argument about the price, condition or the propriety of the items there for sale. Acting like that would be considered bad behavior. Doing it here is no different.

Wow, am I glad I got to read this thread all the way back to 2006... I live in Woodstock Ontario about 25 minutes from Brantford and 40 minutes from Simcoe.. I have heard of Silent Chief but not Starlite .. There was a Silent Chief globe at an auction near Simcoe, 2 or 3 years ago, a very large auction I may add.. I forget what it brought or who got it but I could find out if needed.. I am going to purchase a copy of that Starlite globe from T-Way and display it in with my collectibles,,, I copy and pasted a copy of the history of Sun Canadian and would appreciate any more info anyone may have.. Many thanks to Silent Chief although I don't know who you are, I would love to talk some day.. my name is Wes Hague, 519-533-6202 in Woodstock.. GREAT GLOBE !

That is a great looking globe. This is exactly what I think reproductions are perfect for because there is likely no other reasonable way for a collector to otherwise own an item of this rarity. I've never heard of this brand before, so reproductions resurrect history about brands and companies that otherwise might be lost in the past and forgotten.
I would love to see a Silent Chief globe! I reproduced a porcelain enamel neon sign in this brand and had globe artwork created as a fantasy piece, but honestly I don't know if it is similar to an original.

Well guys, the ones that are interested in the Starlite/Silent Chief topic... I attended that auction of Tom and Marlene Stackhouse for 4 days.. lots of great stuff..I still to this day by my tires from his sons ( Ed.& Jeff, in Simcoe, at Queensway Tire )which Tom started back in the early days. I have the auction book ( thick I might add) signed by Tom to me.. I am posting a scanned copy from the book of that one piece Silent Chief globe and some other aticles that went with that globe pertaing to Viking Chief and McColl Frontenac...as you can see all of it didn't bring that much money $2999.00 and thats including buyers premium and taxes. It's Great how this website brings out information on collectibles long gone..BUT not forgotton..This globe too is thought to be the only one in existence.. This is the REPRODUCED version of the Silent Chief 13-1/2" globe that was made in Ontario Canada, many years ago,,,, just a little more info on SILENT CHIEF/STARLITE, I should add, these lenses that were made here in Canada were never dated or had reproduction on them, so buyer beware,,keep in mind also that the Silent Chief globe was only done in a one piece globe, so any lenses floating around out there are definately fake.
