It's been a while since I posted anything here, but I have a couple of questions. I purchased a Texaco "Ladies" double sided flange sign at an auction recently. It measures 5in x 15in. It feels like porcelain to me, nice finish on it. It's not dated anywhere. Can someone tell me when these signs were used? And other than the "feel" of the surface of the sign, is there any way to determine if it's painted or porcelain? I tried to post a picture here. But when I try, it says that the file type is blocked. Thanks in advance. JP

Thank you! Some sites allow me to post pictures, and some don't. Don't know if it's my computer or what.

Will post some pics of the various rest room signs. I have been collecting Texaco for over 30 years but am not an expert. Please chime in if anyone has other thoughts. These first ones are the various rest room signs and then some key holders. The small dull ones are made of soybeans...I think.... and were made during WW2 as a way to save metal. then after the war they made the keys like the banjo signs at the station curb.

Back of the key holder. the next one is a transition piece and are kind of scarce. It is when Texaco started going to the Hexagon logo. they used the same keyholder format, but changed the keys and the signage to match. Note the hexagon keys has script lettering.

These key holders were when they went to the "Matawan" style stations. Note the hexagon keys with block letters. The green frame is the stations way of showing their cleanliness of their stations and had to be recertified yearly. Back in he 30-40s Texaco had station/restroom inspectors that drove around to do inspections, and a dealer could lose his franchise if not up to standard.

If I have them in the right order the first one is from the 30s, the second one is from a period in early 40s for the "You're aways Welcome at Texaco." At a map holder with that as well. then the one most of us know and then the tan one from the Matawn stations.

And then the Restroom comments card holder. This is from the "Matawan" time period. The comments cards themselves are harder to find than the holders. If anyone has some different thoughts...please add comments. I am sure there is more "stuff" out there that I am unaware of. I also use about 1970 as my cutoff date. Thanks for letting me share.
