I just acquired a visable gas pump. I am going to restore it. I think i have got it pretty much figured how to go about it...EXCEPT getting the glass cylinder out of it without breaking it. What should use to get the chalk out from the bottom of the glass? And how is the top sealed, I can't tell by looking. Any and all help is appreciated.

There’s a very good thread on cylinder removal, use the search tool to find it.
I recently removed a cylinder, the bottom was surrounded by litharge(white lead) and both the top and bottom were seated on a cork gasket . I used dental type tools to remove most of the white lead and then soaked the balance in acetic acid. The cylinder was also stuck tightly to the cork gaskets. Take your time- don’t rush the process, and don’t pry or force the cylinder in any way.

Do not breathe the latharge dust if you scrape it as the dust will damage your lungs. The dust is poison to lungs.

I also applied Aerokroil in the groove and let that soak as well. it seemed to help loosen the latharge and kept the dust down.

Everyone has posted some good advice!! Where safety glasses when doing it. I had a buddy taking one out and he said it exploded. Not sure if it was already cracked or not. Spray well and soak and scrape that stuff out slowly! Been there and done it myself!
