Picked up a Tokheim 39 short the other day. Thought it was odd that it had a cast base. The only cast based 39 pumps I have seen were on tall 39 four add glass pumps. The Id plate read 39 L-RA-R made in 12/53. It didn't have doors, so I put on some that I had, and they fit fine. While cleaning the pump up I ran across Cut down Id plate. Now it makes sense, the pump was cut down at the factory using the cast base. The R on the Id plate indicates that it was rebuilt. Up until this time I thought that these cut down versions were done by jobbers, now I know they did it at the factory also. Richard

That’s cool. Never seen that tag either. Bennett Pump Company cut a lot of pumps at the factory. I’ve had a few factory cut Bennett’s over the years.
