This is my forth posting of POTM, the first three were Bennett, Wayne and G&B so I figured it's now Tokheim's turn. There are many "benchmark" Tokheim's to choose from due to their long history of being innovative and always making high quality equipment with flair.
This pump was made from the late 30's until the late 50's, it became "altitude impaired" around the middle of it's production life and I believe this pump is found everywhere in the US.
Ladies and gentleman, I offer that you honor, send pictures, brochures, stories, etc. on the (drum roll please);
Tokheim model 39.
Short, tall and anything you can find in between. I have several Tokheims and can say while gutting them that Tokheim made quality stuff! Notice I said "made", as in past tense, because here recently they have declared bankruptcy so their name and assets were put on the auction block. I believe Wayne purchased the US interest of Tokheim. You know, from a petro collector standpoint, Tokheim's death compares to what it would feel like if Chevrolet or Dodge went out of the automobile business. Well, a lot of bad things have happened in this age of unstable economics, poor (gready, short term vision) management and 2 plus 2 not equalling four anymore.
Well, I don't want to change this forum to "Economics Of The Month" so I'll leave it at that, it's just that Tokheim's demise does truly bother me!
I've got a few pictures of unrestored 39's that I will post at some point but PLEASE LET THE OLDGASSER'S POSTING START.
Thanks for looking and thanks even more for participating in any way!
Sincerely,
Neal
