Wow, do I get to be the first post (after the moderator of course). And I had a good week too. Actually it was a great week. Actually it was the best week I've had in my short collecting career. So get ready gas geeks, because here it comes.

Need the GAS GURUS to help with the pump identifications.

Started last Sunday with this porcelain Standard Stations sign now in place on my barn.

Then I got a call from Los Osos about this Tokheim 39 Flying A green beauty, spotted the Monroe cabinet while I was there so I bought it too.

Then between a guy that called about some cans and the Ventura Flea Market I bought this stuff (except the Union sign)

While I was buying the stuff on Saturday I got another call about these pumps and bought this stuff and the Union Sign all from the same place.

I believe that the visible is a Tokheim 625, and the Kerosene pump is a Bennett 1000 (Straighten me out Dick Bennett, if I'm wrong).

For a guy that wasn't collecting pumps I sure have a bunch now! Seemed like it was raining pumps and signs here.

I'm going to post whats on the side of the visible to see if you guys can figure out the brand from what's left so check out that post later.

I got the thermometer on the left off of eBay. I've had the one on the right for years.
The left one is a mint Canadian CPI Ditzler and the right is the same vintage American PPG Ditzler.
Funny that the products recommended for certain temperatures are different on the two.
Maybe 100F degrees is cooler in Canada, eh?

Just nabbed this can on ebay. Can anyone tell me what it's for? I think I know but would like a second opinion (like one from someone that knows what they're talking about, which would not be me).

That's what I was told (Calibration). Guy called me and said he had one for sale and to come over and look at it so I did. He put it on the counter and I had no idea what it was but he told me, so I said, How much do you want for it? In my head I'm thinking 20 bucks.

He says $175.00

I'm sort of stunned so I just stood there for a minute and then said that I needed to do some more research on it and I'd let hime know. He seemed insulted that I wouldn't buy it and said that was his price and that's how he does business (like don't even make an offer).

Went home and put in "Brookins Gas Can" on ebay and this one I bought popped up. Opening bid was one dollar. Today before I left for Ventura I put in a prayer bid (that's one where you hope no one will outbid you when you're gone). Bought the can for 12 bucks. Can't wait to send that guy the auction results (no I won't really do that, but I'd like to).

At least now I can check my pumps!

By the way Dodogas, I think you're right on about the Union and Dick agreed. Just trying to figure out what's on top of it on the other side (see the other post in General Petro)

I got this sign off eBay from Monaco. It's one I've been looking 4 for several years.

This isn't really a "matched" pair, but to
me they were made to be displayed side-by-side!!!

NEW calibration cans measure increments of .001, older ones were increments of .01. All pump service trucks carry at least one, and the DEPARTMENT of WEIGHTS & MEASURE still use them.

I'll bet that a new can sells for about $175, if not more.

Here's a few other recent purchases....not
all from last week, but now that I can post
my own images, they're things I haven't
shared with the group before. If that's
against the rules for this topic DOC, feel
free to zap them off of here.

This lighter is swiss-made and has a spring
loaded striker mechanism which locks so it
won't accidently go off in your pocket. It's
the only one like it I've seen.

I got this 3" pocket mirror from Bulgaria,
of all places. It's definitely an old
original item that was made in the U.S. If
anyone knows about the connection between
"Peerless American" and SOCONY I'd
certainly like to hear from you. Another item I've never seen before.

My first Ashland globe....I worked for them
for most of the 1970's.

The pump plate at the top is the only one I
have in this smaller size....it's 9" x 9".
I assume they're must also be a Mobilgas
version out there somewhere....if anyone
has one for sale let me know.

That's a violation of section 2439456.123 of the Oldgas posting code which says that you cannot post pictures of items that have been in your possesion for more than seven days. We will have to report you to the Petrolania Police and put you on photo posting probation.

By the way, Great Looking Stuff. Thanks for sharing it with us.
