I'd like to apologize for being so late in starting FATW, and for missing the feature last month. It's been a hectic time over the last month and a half with moving and dealing with some other issues related to the house. I'll try to be better about starting the feature on time in the future.

Out on a Sunday drive, Tara and I came across this old Sinclair station in a small town, off the beaten path. It turns out, though, that this was once on a very well-traveled cross-country highway route during the 1920s through 40s.



The place was open, so I went inside to ask permission to take the photo. Amazingly, the owner had a picture behind the counter of the station the way it appeared back in the mid to late 1950s.



I can only speculate that the two attendants are father and son. Here's a close-up:



I wonder if the old man in the T is the grandfather?

It made me happy to find that the station was still in decent shape, although the roof is in need of some repair. At least the guy appreciates the heritage of the building.

Right down the road, there was a cool station that may have been a Cities Service - hard to say. Still in pretty good shape. It would be a fun project to bring this one back to original.

This Chevy Dealer is very similar to one I posted a few months back. The showroom is pretty cool, although not all of the original plate glass is still intact. I wish I'd have checked to see if this one had a tile bowtie in the floor like the other one I found.






Check out that Standard Oil Products strip sign! Hard to believe it's still there.

This is the first old Sinclair Bulk Plant I have ran across in Louisiana. I was passing through Independence, Louisiana and happened across this little jewel... It's amazing to find anything in the south with "Sinclair HC" or "Opaline" on it still!

I posted a picture of this DeSoto, Missouri station last year, but a lot has changed since then. The property has been sold and the new owner has committed to keeping the station as a landmark.

The Mahn Funeral Home next door needed more parking, so the separate rear garage and shed were razed. Two garage bays in poor condition were removed from the building. They are fixing up the station now and plan to add vintage pumps when it's done.

Here is a old Clearvision pump on a old farm. Still has the gial etched cylinder with one bb hole. Talked to the man for a while & of like always not for sale I will try again when I am down in them neck of the woods.





These old stations where in the same town.

I cant find the chevy dealership with the bowtie in the floor. Does anyone recall what month it was?

Dino still being used in Iowa.


Expensive yard ornament.

Found this old station in a small town in Missouri this weekend. A few old timers said it closed around 1968 and was a Mobil station at one time.

Also found this Wayne 60 in Missouri. About 10 years ago when I talked to the guy he said I didn't have enough money to buy. Needless to say this time I just passed by and got a picture. It's been at the same farm on the same island since it was new. Dog was also keeping a close eye on me and the pump. Love the ad glass/plate!

Here is the post with the Chevy dealer. There was only one pic posted, and unfortunately I did not get a pic of the tile bowtie. I will, however, see if the station posted in this thread has a similar bowtie next time i'm in that area.

I was at the mass gas show telling every one
how there nothing out there anymore, when the following Monday this pump falls in my lap with two nice signs and add glass. unbelievable. hope these pictures gets through
