Two and three wheel units have always been available. In the early years service stations serviced trucks so most of the units that were purchased were three wheels. As truck service centers opened many service station oped for the lower price two wheel units since they no longer seviced trucks. In order to pump over 75 lbs. you unit must have a shotlengthner. So, it doesn't matter how many wheels the unit has, without the shotlengthner you unit will only supply about 75 lbs.
