Just got and installed this old bell. Now, look at the sign and then the bell. Notice the crack in both! Should I paint the bell red or leave as is?
To paint or not to paint...???

I have one bell faded black just like yours and one painted gold. The black looks better to me. My 1 year old Grandaughter really likes ringing it! I hope to get a fresh coat of gloss black on it. In fact I bet if you paint yours gloss black the crack might not show so easy. Good looking bell even with the crack. Makes me think of the Liberty Bell! May our lives glorify God, Michael

I actually like the crack as it look almost identical the one in my 1920's Pennzoil sign! I'm not one to restore much as I always say you can't put the old back once you've restored something!

Paint it red and distress it with black gets my vote.
