Just got and installed this old bell. Now, look at the sign and then the bell. Notice the crack in both! Should I paint the bell red or leave as is?

I have one bell faded black just like yours and one painted gold. The black looks better to me. My 1 year old Grandaughter really likes ringing it! I hope to get a fresh coat of gloss black on it. In fact I bet if you paint yours gloss black the crack might not show so easy. Good looking bell even with the crack. Makes me think of the Liberty Bell!

I actually like the crack as it look almost identical the one in my 1920's Pennzoil sign! I'm not one to restore much as I always say you can't put the old back once you've restored something!

Paint it red and distress it with black gets my vote.
