I first want to just say "Hi", what an overwhelming site. I have to say I really have never had much interest in gas pumps, I have always been into classic cars but never the things that seem to go with them. I came across a pump on Craigslist the other night and I went and looked at it, thinking it was too cheap ($250) and that I could make a couple of bucks, I bought it. I find myself quickly being sucked into the whole process and I am chomping at the bit to give a shot at restoring it. I am no longer interested in flipping it and my wife thinks I have gone nuts. I will be posting many questions here very quickly. Well so here she is, please comment away.

Looks like you got a great deal on the ad glass top version of the M&S 80 with Conoco pump plate. Parts are often available for this popular pump. Lots of guys around here have experience on restoring them too.
Your wife may be right about you going nuts. If you aren't nuts now, hang with us and we'll have you over the edge, addicted to smelly rusted things very soon.

Jim,
Thank you, learning all ready, I thought they were all script tops, but I now see the difference. I like the looks of the Sunoco pumps and of course the Fire Chief pumps look sweet, am I better off leaving this original or just have fun with it?
The pump is missing the hose and nozzle, should I be looking for a certain one or did these vary?

Welcome aboard. Great looking pump. Just about any nozzle and hose will fit it. I don't have any pictures of my Buckeye Nozzle but there are many many other nozzles for your pump.

Welcome aboard to the site of crazy collectors. Nice score and a great price for an ad glass M&S 80. I just finished a short M&S 80 in Sunoco colors. http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=216705&page=1The first thing you want to do is get rid of the pump from the bottom so it wont smell up your garage or where ever you want to display it. I have to agree with leaving it alone as long as you can stand it because they are only original once. If you need more pictures, parts, guidance on repairing, etc. drop me an email and I would be happy to help. BTW you can buy a replacement cable and holder for the hose retracter, a new hose, a used handle, and it would look great anywhere. Mark

I just noticed I don't see any #'s for the Veeder-Root. Is it empty inside behind the face plate? Maybe it is in the reset position?

Welcome and I agree you did great on the price of that pump,the top and pump plate (door sign) was worth what you paid.When you have time post pics of your cars on the non petro disscusion/showcase fourm, most of us on here have cars or at least like them.

It is in the reset position, I am trying to figure out how to get it freed up. I just have to free up some time to dive into it. I am thinking I will probably try to just find a hose, nozzle, some new glass and gaskets and leave it be. I just need to find one to play with now and maybe a sign or two.
