The story on this light is that I've driven past it for many years looking and wishing that I could get up the nerve to go ask if I could buy it, well one day a month or so ago I finally found the nerve. The shop where this was at is a import mechanic shop, I went up to the guy and asked if he wanted to sell it and he said he's probably had 100 people stop and ask the same question, I asked him what his highest offer was and he told me, so I made a offer that was a little higher and he accepted it. I even used his tools to take it down. Now I just painted it this week and will get it wired this weekend, then I will mount it somewhere beside my shop. Sorry to be so long winded, but I'm proud of it. Barry

my base was rotted out so i had a guy tack it to the stoplight base.replaced that window on the bourban # times(but thatsanother story!

That's a bummer...too bad it bent up the light shade...just glad it didn't break the harp...the burb can be fixed...LoL

I would think that during the restoration process where you strip the paint and examine the metal that corrosion would be detected. In my traffic signal collection I have frequently detected hardware that was ready to fail. The station lights that I collect and use are different, florescent wing style and I have found every one to have a rusted flange that had to be rebuilt. Do your island lights have enamel finish on any part?

The base on mine is just painted cast, the upper pole is a painted metal pipe, no porcelain enamel. The only part that is porcelain enamel is the shade.
