My father is restoring an old Southwest Pump visible gas pump that his family had when he was a kid. While cleaning it up, we noticed there appeared to be a missing selector switch where you could choose between “CLOSED UNLAWFUL” and “OPEN LAWFUL”. We were looking to see if anyone knew the difference between the options, and when each would be used. I’ve searched online but haven’t had any luck. Attached are photos of the pump and what we believe is the selector area.

I’ve been doing more research and am now wondering if that hole wasn’t for a selector, but was where the nozzle was stored when not being used. This nozzle has a hook that may have fit in that slot. We don’t have the original nozzle, so we aren’t sure.

Hey Jason, great pump, looking forward to seeing it done. I don't have an answer to your question, but I'm sure someone who knows will chime in, eventually. Be patient, there is a lot of knowledge here, but its pump hunting season
