Note the two little holes in each corner of your sign and the small bump out of the back panel nearby. A square U shaped wire is looped around each corner of the glass and hooked in the back of the back panel. See the examples of two of my similar neon signs. Be certain not to put too much pressure on the corner of the glass by twisting the back tie tight.
The beauty of these is not really back lighting as gas pump ad glass is lighted. The light comes from the edges, so the shelving of the lettering or graphics paint catches the glow.
