I grew up in a Mopar family. My brothers friends owned or maybe still own some of the most desirable Mopars in Canada. I made annual trips to the New Hamburg Ontario Mopar show during the 1990's. The friends would attend the Carlisle PA Chrysler Nationals every year.
I have learned that $100,000 for a true original rare muscle car is peanuts.
I thought the car would bring minimum $150K since it was not only a local auction. I understand the auction was open to internet and phone bidders.
I think the location was the biggest issue. Maybe lack of advertising in the United States played a part in this.
