I have wondered that about Coke as well. I would guess they did not keep copies of most ads. They were in the business to sell not archiving.
I have many hundreds of magazines to go thru. I am always picking up more. It is like a treasure hunt and you learn a lot of history along the way. I bought about 75 this month at antique shows in NH. over Christmas.
I also like the teens and twenties the most but the 40's is a great time for the war time ads. There are many magazines that I find too good to take apart and I save them intact.
Years ago I was at an auction and the barn was full of magazines. I bid on about 3000 Life magazines but dropped out. I felt bad for the buyer because he had just finished loading his truck to capacity and it started to rain. He still had another load to come back for.
